Sport Relief Mile
Southend Sport Relief Mile
Sport Relief is taking place on Sunday 21st March and Southend-on-Sea Borough Council invites you to come along to Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, Garons, and join hundreds of other local people at your Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile. With three distances to choose from, there is a challenge for all ages and abilities. Enter the Mile, get sponsored and enjoy the atmosphere of the day.

Cricket Level Two Residential Course
These Residential UKCC2 courses are being held at Felsted School. A school with great facilities in lovely surroundings. (Felsted, Essex, CM6 3LL)
Each day will be spent covering the modules on the syllabus and completing Supported Practice. Please note this is a compulsory RESIDENTIAL course, and each evening will be spent working and preparing for the next day. You will be able to complete the supported practise and take your assessment during this course.

Emergency First Aid Workshop Tuesday 20th July 2010
The aim of this workshop is to give participants sufficient information for the Coach to be able to control an incident until more qualified help, which may be a qualified First Aider or the Emergency Services, arrive.
This is not a full First Aid Course but Trainees receive a Certificate of Attendance. Please check with your NGB if you are unsure as to whether this workshop meets your requirements.
You will need all delegates full names and e-mail addresses in order to book places on this workshop.
Please note that from refunds for delegate cancellations will only be given if over 14 days notice is given to sportessex by the delegate. Where more than 14 days notice is given to sportessex, places may be re-scheduled where possible.

Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop Wednesday 14th July 2010
Protect yourself, the young people you are coaching and your employer by understanding and following good coaching practice. Learn about child abuse and how to handle situations if you have concerns.
This course can help a club to meet one of the 'Duty of care and child protection' criteria for Sport England Clubmark accreditation. 'At least two members of the club, one of whom must be a coach have attended child protection training' (Sport England Clubmark Resource Pack, 2002).
Please note:
* All delegates for Safeguarding and Protecting Children must be over 16 years of age. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian who must stay for the duration of the workshop, the guardian must be over the age of 18. This guardian may be a colleague from the sports club, or a parent/carer etc. If this guardian does not wish to take part in the workshop, they MUST contact sportessex before any bookings are made to make arrangements.
* It is recommended that this course is retaken every three years due to changes in legislation.

The workshop will help you to apply and extend your existing skills to meet the needs of present and potential participants.
