There is an ever increasing menu of disability sport opportunities available across Essex. Following the success of the GB Paralympic Team in Beijing and with London 2012 fast approaching, there has not been a more exciting time to get involved with Disability Sport.
Whether you are an individual looking to try a sport for the first time, someone who knows someone that could benefit from participating in sport, an athlete aiming to reach London 2012 or a Club looking to become involved in providing opportunities for disabled athletes, sportessex can help.
A large amount of research has been done to investigate why people participate in sport. A large number of the positives effects of sport are also reported by disabled athletes. However, when asked why people do not participate in sports, the answers of disabled participants are often limited to a few perceived barriers. Sportessex are working with a number of Organisations and Clubs to remove these barriers and highlight the benefits of sport.
