What is the activealliance?
activealliance is the collective representation of local community sport networks across Essex. These networks are made up of people/organisations that have a desire to develop and promote sport and physical activity for the benefit of their local area and Essex as a whole.
A typical community sports network may include representatives from a local authority, schools, clubs, sports facilities, primary care trust, crime concern, volunteer networks and wider community groups such as disability and older people organisations. This list of members is not exhaustive and the "make up" of the group is based on local interest and need.
The network will develop ideas on the best ways to tackle local issues together so that more people can become involved in sport and physical activity. For example, if there is a childhood obesity problem, the partnership may decide to create a walk-to-school scheme across the school partnership to encourage increased activity and awareness of healthy lifestyle issues. These ideas will form what is called an action plan, which will last between one year and two years
Why is there an activealliance in Essex?
Sport England want community sport networks to be the means by which sport and physical activity for local communities is co-ordinated, ensuring that access to sport & physical activity is widened and participation is increased.
The successful implementation of this system (delivery system for sport) will be based upon national priorities and local need - with a generic target of 1% year-on-year increase in sport and physical activity set.
Sport England has aligned its future investment plan to support the development and achievements of this system.
What is the role of sportessex in this sytem?
The development of community sports networks is built into each County Sports Partnership's targets (sportessex representing Essex). We are therefore committed to supporting each network to ensure they are fit for purpose, enabling new and sustainable participation through partnership working and accessing money identified within the Community Investment Fund.
sportessex will play a strategic role in this partnership by advising, co-ordinating and supporting the development of the activealliance.
What is your role within the activealliance?
activealliance is providing a platform for increasing participation in sport and physical activity in Essex, which relies on successful partnerships and support of the whole community.
We all have a role to play in leveling the playing field and improving the pathways into sport for those that remain socially excluded and therefore implore you to take action.
Whether representing a local club, business or public service you can make a positive difference and we would like to hear from you. For further information please contact Angela Littlewood at sportessex by clicking here.
